Climatological Charts of the St. Lawrence - River and Gulf


The climatological charts of the St. Lawrence show the monthly means for wind, waves, freezing spray, visibility, atmospheric pressure, and water and air temperatures over the river and the gulf. They were prepared from very high quality meteorological observations taken from Canadian archives.

Twenty-three weather stations along the shore and several hundred thousand reports from ships helped to determine the conditions that can be expected in each of the 19 maritime areas illustrated on the chart above. Note that local effects, such as those due to local topography and affecting only areas close to shore, are not shown on the charts.
